Law firms and attorneys
Law firms, and the costliest clicks in search
Legal search contains the most expensive clicks on the internet. When a single keyword costs a hundred dollars, you cannot afford poor tracking, slow intake, or a sloppy landing page. Every variable must be sharp.
The reality
The economics of a signed case
Law firms face a brutal auction environment, particularly in personal injury, criminal defense, and family law. The cost per click is astronomical because the value of a closed case justifies it.
The mistake many firms make is optimizing their campaigns for raw form fills. When you optimize a legal account to generic "leads," the platform finds you people with unviable claims, outside your jurisdiction, or looking for pro bono advice.
We optimize for the signed case. By integrating your intake software (Clio, MyCase, Filevine) with the ad platforms, we feed data back when a lead actually signs a retainer. This trains Google's bidding algorithms to recognize the difference between a qualified client and a noise query.
You cannot out bid the mega firms on every term. You have to out convert them.
Discipline
Surviving the legal auction
When clicks cost this much, defensive tactics are just as important as your bidding strategy.
-
01
Negative keyword rigor
We deploy massive, pre built negative keyword lists to block searches for "free," "pro bono," "legal aid," and irrelevant practice areas. We review search term reports constantly to ensure your budget is not bleeding out on unqualified traffic.
-
02
Dayparting and scheduling
If your intake team goes home at 6:00 PM and you do not use a 24/7 answering service, we shut the ads off. A legal lead that goes to voicemail is a wasted click.
-
03
Audience exclusions
We exclude current employees, other lawyers, and job seekers. We tighten geographic radiuses so you are not paying for clicks from people in counties where you do not practice.
Local dominance
Local Services Ads and the Southwest Florida market
For consumer facing practice areas, Google Local Services Ads (LSAs) have fundamentally changed the search results page. LSAs sit at the absolute top of the screen, and you pay per phone call, not per click.
As a Southwest Florida agency, we know how to compete in the regional legal market. We manage LSA profiles alongside traditional paid search, aggressively disputing invalid leads (solicitations, out of geo calls) to recover your budget.
LSAs require operational excellence. Your responsiveness to calls and the volume of your reviews directly impact your ranking in the local pack. We help you build the systems to support that velocity.
Ethics and compliance
Advertising within the rules
Every state bar has specific rules regarding attorney advertising. We do not cross them.
Aggressive marketing does not require ethical compromise. We write ad copy and design landing pages that avoid promises of outcome, superlative claims, or misleading practice area designations.
We work with your compliance officer or managing partner to ensure all disclaimers are visible, geographic designations are accurate, and creative assets meet the standards of the Florida Bar (or your local equivalent). We secure approval before a single dollar is spent.
Common questions
Legal advertising FAQ
Why are legal keywords so expensive?
Because the lifetime value of a signed case in areas like personal injury or mass torts can be tens of thousands of dollars. The auction simply reflects the economics of the business. You cannot change the cost per click, but you can improve your conversion rate to make the math work.
Do you guarantee a certain number of leads?
No. Any agency promising a fixed number of legal leads is either buying cheap, shared leads from a broker or engaging in unethical practices. We manage your direct to consumer search campaigns to acquire exclusive, high intent cases based on your actual budget.
How do you ensure ads comply with state bar rules?
We avoid guarantees of outcome, superlative language ("the best lawyer"), and unauthorized claims of specialization. We work closely with your internal counsel to ensure all ad copy and landing pages meet the specific ethics requirements of your state bar.
Should we bid on other law firms’ names?
It is legally permissible in most jurisdictions, but it is rarely a good use of budget. The clicks are expensive, the intent is low (they already know who they want), and it often sparks a costly bidding war. We prefer to spend your money on unbranded, high intent practice area queries.
